Okay, WHO IS EDNA …
Hi, I’m Edna, a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist and founder of Balens Therapy.
When I’m not behind the screen working with you, I’m likely at home with my partner and my pug, aspiring to be a retired doom scroller. When I’m able to, I enjoy a good boxing class, tending to my 90+ house plants, trying a new exercise in the gym, forcing myself to drink water, reminiscing with old friends, and discovering new food spots around the GTA.
I’m a retired people pleaser who still occasionally picks up part-time shifts but continues to make an effort to enjoy “retirement.” In this season of slowing down, I’m proud of how far I’ve come in my own healing journey, taking steps away from burnout and learning to savour the little things, like watching the clouds drift by during a sunset. It’s the small, grounding moments that remind me why this work matters, and I’m excited to help you find that same sense of ease.
Professionally, I’ve spent nearly a decade in nursing, supporting people through crises and major life changes. I know what it’s like to hold it all together while running on empty, to overfunction and overthink, and still feel like you’re falling short. That’s why I started Balens Therapy: a space where you don’t have to explain your identity, hide your struggles, or pretend you’re fine.
My approach blends evidence-based therapy with cultural awareness and a touch of nature-like plant care and grounding practices—to help you reconnect with yourself gently. This isn’t about fixing you; it’s about creating space to exhale, heal, and move toward a life that actually feels good.
